Tops and Bottoms...

So I received my first assignment since landing in Vancouver, and of course it's with the wonderful publication, XTRA West. Jon and I shot for them 2 summers ago when we both lived here, and let me tell you, the assignments can be very colourful.

So when I received this one to photograph a comedy show called Tops & Bottoms, I went in with no expectations in fear that I would be completely wrong.

Turns out it was tamer that one might expect from the title. All improv provided by some very fun people.

Not sure which they are going to be using but here's an outtake from a scene on Wreck Beach where they could only use 3 words...

What's That Barbeque?

After Mariette (Jon's stepmom) came home from South Africa we arranged a day that everyone could come over for a feast. There was so much food and everything was delicious, esp. the salmon.
I snapped a few fun photos (mostly of Jon's half brother and sister, Mishak and Camille) during the afteroon/evening.

Mishak, Mariette, Jim and Camille.

Goodbye Toronto, Hello Vancouver

It was our last day in Toronto, and after finally having everything packed and ready to go, Jon and I made a trip down to the Steamwhistle Factory when we were joined by Robyn and her 1 year old cousin Francesca.

After our outting we headed over to the Ryerson Gallery for Dom's opening for CONTACT, which went pretty well, once the beer and Dom arrived.

About 9 hours later we were at the airport attempting to sleep, with no luck, even with multiple locations. Sleep didn't happen on the plane either, nor later in the day, and now in the last 60 hours Jon and I have had around 5 hours total.

Vancouver is hot and sunny and my mother tells me it hailed at home, so we couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Schmoozing...

After weeks of packing and then a trip to Port Colborne (photos eventually, when I can finally scan the 120mm film that I shot white there) Jon and I made our way back to Toronto. For almost a week now we've been camping out in our friend Robyn McCallum's couch/futon. Jon's just finished the Magnum Workshop for the CONTACT festival and we went out to the exhibition opening at 80 Spadina.

(Jon and Dom's names were missing from the list and I was instructed by Emily and Larry to put them up with labels, so I did)

After hanging out with Larry Towell for a few hours, we went home got pizza and then went over to Sarah & Kaja's house for a bit...after which we raided Sobey's for breakfast foods, ate them and crashed.

Now we get to relax for FIVE whole days and then at 7am it's off to Vancouver finally.

Engagement Photos!

Now that we're finally moved out of our apartment I can get some work done! Today I finished going through my photos of my cousin Andrew and his fiance Kristy that I took at the end of April.
I drove out to The Old Mill in Ancaster, Ontario and spent sometime avoiding the construction. Here are some of the photos, which can also be found on our wedding photography website: http://www.bandc.ca/blog

If you know of anyone else getting married, let me know!
