It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

Jon and I decided that an adventure to a pumpkin patch would be a great idea...it turned into quite an adventure.

Apparently the regular fields of pumpkins that I've come to know and love from the small towns in Niagara are not a thing here in BC...
After driving around Ladner and I'm not too sure where else, we decided to give up our simplicity quest as our other passengers were becoming restless:

This place had everything that families apparently want...including dancing corn and pumpkin!:

hayrides to the pumpkin patch:

and of course...pumpkins!:

searching for the best pumpkin:

Matt is very proud of his pumpkin find:

Thanks pumpkin patch! You may have been over the top, but we got what we came for!:

Thanks! Giving!

I always give thanks for surrogate families when I'm away from mine...

Vancouver IS Awesome...The Launch of SCENE & HEARD

So I just wrote about how I'm now a contributor to Vancouver Is Awesome...apparently I'm also (kind of) a writer now too.

I've been appointed organizer/do-er of a new series for the website called Scene & Heard...where the local indie music artists interview each other...The first post of the series is of my good friends Nat Jay and Adaline, who were kind enough to be my guinea pigs! But I wont go into it, because you can read it right here: www.vancouverisawesome.com/2009/10/27/scene-and-heard-nat-jay-adaline

My 'Vancouver Mom' Loves Me

It was much to my delight the other morning to wake up and see this 'tweet':

"@vancouver_mom @christinemcavoy is one of Vancouver's 50 Essential Portrait Photographers. http://bit.ly/2jnDXR"

I got an email a few days ago from Christine Pilkington of Vancouver Mom asking me to be a part of a series she is doing called '50 Essential Vancouver Portrait Photographers' which states that they want to cover "photographers who demonstrate a high calibre of talent, as well as cover family, maternity, baby or kids – along with other subjects."
Um...yes!

Vancouver Mom is a brand new website and it's about blurb says its goal is:
to help moms living in Metro Vancouver find – and find out about – things they’re looking for...

I'm ecstatic to be a part of it and am excited to see the Bonnie & Clyde post up there soon too!
Check out my interview here: www.vancouvermom.ca/best-of/christine-mcavoy/

Vancouver IS Awesome... still.

So many good things happening right now...and I'm exhausted.

I have officially started contributing to Vancouver Is Awesome. I have a little picture on the contributors list and everything.
My first post came from photos that Jon sent me of a beaver lodge in Charleson Park by the seawall in False Creek.
You can check out my post here!

"What IS that, it's gorgeous!"

I was talking about a loaf of bread.
Actually.
It was a poppy seed loaf.
And they gave it to me afterward. So good.

I did some basic food-on-white photography for my friends over at European Breads Bakery. The bread speaks for itself...it is all very pretty and very tasty. In fact, last year their baguettes were on VanMag's 101 To Eat Before You Die!:

Here are some of the close-ups I did just for fun and because the bread was so pretty!:

I Love Food Photography

Matisyahu!

I shot the Matisyahu show at the Commodore for Ronatron the other night. First three songs, no flash. As always. Got some decent shots though:

Hansel... so hot right now... Hansel.

Can't help but think of Zoolander when I hear the words "male models"...that movie ruined it for all of them.

So a few weeks ago I shot the Boys Company 25th Anniversary Party/Fundraiser. It had everything, drinks, fabulous people, silent auction, and a fashion show with, what else, male models. There was one exception however...

The hoodie was being auctioned off for Jason Dussault's reality show/diabetes research.
Here's a shot of one the models and of an outtake backstage that I really like despite being out of focus...

Mercedes Benz Over Backwards

Whoa. My photos are on Canadian News Wire...gotta love googling yourself!

Here are some photos that I took for fun of the Mercedes-Benz North Vancouver dealership grand opening. (There were some amazing food items!) I got a little artsy when I was running out of models to take photos of:

Updates timez!

So many updates will happen today... so here's the first:
Tearsheets! These are from VanMag's October Issue which features 101 Things to Eat/Drink version 2.0...
I was one of 3 photographers (inlcuding the wonderful photographer and newest VanMag photo intern Mark Cohene) working on this feature, and shot 16 in total (a smaller feat compared to last year's 65+!)
Here are some pages with some of my shots:

Also in this issue was my photo of Cambie Street, which was featured as it is no longer a pile of construction!

The September Issue...

Okay, photos from Ontario finally all sorted out.
Most of them are of my parent's new puppy "Dexter", but there were some other good ones from camping too... The award for No-Makeup-Frizzy-Camping-Hair Photo 2009 goes to:

I'm waiting on some PDF's to put up from Vancouver Magazine and catching up on emails still. It's cold in Vancouver, but I still feel like I need to finally start my personal project...hmm.
I've said that before, but I'll try my hardest.
Here's my puppy standing in for a test shot while I did headshots for MBC Financial in Port Colborne:
