NXNE
Another month, another event happening in Toronto that I wish I could attend. (These are the reasons that Toronto is calling my name again...)
North by North East is an awesome music festival that stretches over a few glorious days in June. It's a festival where I saw some of my good friends play for the first time...Hey Ocean, Dan Mangan, Lotus Child, Hollerado. I distinctly remember walking down Queen Street with Ashleigh Ball, and sitting on the floor of The Hideout listening to Dan Mangan sing his MySpace song.
Anyways...MANY of my new friends are playing in the city and I've put together a list of their set times if you are reading this in Toronto and want to check them out.
Oh and below that is a screen shot of the NXNE page for Rah Rah with my breaking hearts photo...

Slow Knots
Brasstronaut had it's all-ages CD release with The Zolas on Thursday at St James hall. It was hot. Really hot. Like 30 degrees hot. Or it might have just been the girls screaming for Zach and Tom...
I had a great time attempting to take photos under low light was a challenge, but then there were lasers! Pretty crazy.
First, here's a music lesson with Henry:

Vertical Thinking...
So my first assignment for Exclaim! Magazine is out on the inter-web! It didn't really feel like a job at all...the writer was my talented friend Amanda Ash and the subject was non other than Mr. Tom Dobrzanski (of the Zolas).
The focus isn't the band, but Tom's recording studio, Vertical Studios.

Here's a screenshot, an outtake that I really liked but didn't make the cut, and the wonderful Amanda as my stand in model...

Oh and PS. my favourite, Hannah Georgas is on the cover!
