Happy Birthday Oliver & Lilly's

A very cute boutique clothing store called Oliver & Lilly's, conveniently close to my house, had it's 2nd Year Anniversary party and of course I went and had an excellent time.
(PS Dear Mom, I took the photo of the birdhouse for you.)

Studio 54 at Studio 538

Malene Grotrian did it again!

This wonderful evening of beautiful clothes was put on by Luvngrace Entertainment at Studio 538 in downtown Vancouver. In addition to the fashion show, there was a Studio 54 themed party, which included walls lined with the pop art of Jim Cummings!

Cocktails for a Cause

My great friends Olivia and Niki of the fashion blogs Style Struck and A Haute Mess hosted at party at Guess by Marciano on the 24th in support of the non-profit 'Dress For Success'. It was quite the event full of fashionable Vancouverites, friends and rabid shoppers!

Check out the girls blogs HERE and HERE for more photos. (See if you can spot me on one too!)

Art Show!

For the 3rd year in a row, I helped hang/curate/run the Magee Secondary School end-of-year art show...it's a pretty big job as there are probably close to 1000 pieces of art to put on the walls.

In addition to the art show, there is always a little performance/fashion show and it just so happens that my favourite children ever were a part of it. OH and speaking of Miley Cyrus, Camille and one of the students, Chelsea, sang a Hannah Montana song after the fashion show (I've been informed of the difference between Hannah & Miley)...

...and then we ate all the food. Check out the shots of the show below:
(the prettiest little girl ever)(that boy is seriously a Taggart.)

Sunshine Girl

(no, not the girls from the Toronto Sun).

My photos of Rachel's chocolate dress made it into the Vancouver Sun this past Saturday!

I'm still working on getting a PDF of the paper itself...but you can check out the photos that they posted online here and read the article here.

Ice Water Fashion Show

Spectacular designer Malene Grotrian put together a fabulous show for the launch of her Fall/Holiday collection.

I hung out backstage for the most part, photographing and helping with the chocolate dress creation, but a few times I snuck off to play stylist with the shoes and snap some candid shots.

The show was at the gorgeous District 319, Malene's designs walked the runway to the tune of violinist Rosemary Siemans, AND the night started off with Cocoa Nymph's chocolate dress (see earlier post).

You can see the entire set here on my Flickr page (yes, I have that too now)...and here are some shots from backstage, as well as some incredible pieces on the runway:

Malene Grotrian and the Chocolate Dress

That sort of sounds like a fairy tale...and it kind of is. A chocolate dress, designed and built by one of the most talented people I know, Rachel Sawatzky of Cocoa Nymph.

Rachel was asked to participate in the show, but instead of just putting chocolate in the gift bag, she created a chocolate dress based off some of designer Malene Grotrian designs!

To see the entire set, go to Cocoa Nymph's facebook page, but below are some photos of the chocolate dress being created and the finished project. Check back shortly (or look above) for a post of the rest of the fashion show!:
